Success Story: Bianca
BiancaWhen Bianca came to the New Pathways Program, she had been expelled from school and kicked out of her house. During the program, she returned to school, graduated in the top five percent of her class, and earned a full scholarship to Estrella Mountain Community College.

“I love everyone at Youth at Risk who helped me to become who I am today. I think that if I didn’t join the program, I would have ended up pregnant or even dead,” says Bianca.

Success Story: Ernestina

ErnestinaErnestina joined Coronado New Pathways to improve her grades and her relationship with her family and herself. Forgiving herself for past choices, her behaviors changed, resulting in raising her grade point average from 2.3 to 3.2 within one school year.

Now taking honors classes, Ernestina is a member of Student Government. Exhibiting her leadership by delivering a talk at a Scottsdale Leadership meeting, attendee Fire Chief Willie McDonald was so impressed, he created a summer job within the department for Ernestina. You could say she’s on fire!

Since having a mentor, Michael has a stable, consistent role model. They enjoy spending time together each week. Michael hopes to become a doctor.

Success Story: Marle

marleMarle, age 7, lived with her family in a homeless shelter. That’s when volunteer mentor Deborah entered her life and began showing her different options.

Nine years later, they’re still matched and have weathered a lot; one year the family moved 14 times each meaning a different school. Marle is now in high school and takes classes for college credit. With Deb’s encouragement, she has had a number of unique educational opportunities including a wilderness adventure, international travel, and sharing the stage with Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
